Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to order up to forty A350-900s to renew its widebody fleet, which currently comprises exclusively of B787 aircraft.
"This order is a strategic milestone in Air Europa’s fleet development, accelerating its profitable growth by renewal of the current widebody fleet. The A350-900 is a game-changer for key destinations in Latin America," president Juan Jose Hidalgo said.
The airline did not disclose any details regarding the potential delivery timeline.
ch-aviation data shows Air Europa's current widebody fleet comprises eleven B787-8s and eighteen B787-9s. While it has no unfilled orders for any widebodies from the manufactures, it planned to add five more B787-9s via a dry-lease agreement with AerCap.
