Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) has signed a firm order for six A330-900Ns directly from Airbus and committed to lease an additional nine units of the type from Avolon. The carrier has also increased its orderbook for the A350 family aircraft.

In an announcement made during the Dubai Airshow, the Emirati flag carrier said it would take seven additional A350-1000s and three A350Fs directly from the manufacturer. These orders increased the airline's commitment for the types to a total of 27 and 10 units, respectively.

"These aircraft strengthen our operations across medium-haul, long-haul, and cargo. The A330neo brings the right combination of efficiency and flexibility for our regional and mid-range growth, while the A350-1000 continues to deliver exceptional performance on our long-haul network. The A350F freighter adds significant capability to our cargo division as global demand continues to expand," said Etihad Airways' chief executive officer, Antonoaldo Neves.

Deliveries of the A330neo are scheduled to begin in 2027.

Etihad's current widebody fleet comprises nine A350-1000s, eight A380-800s, nine B777-300ERs, thirty-seven B787-9s, and ten B787-10s, as well as five B777-200F freighters. Excluding the new announcement, the airline had unfilled widebody orders for 11 additional A350-1000s, seven A350Fs, eight B777-8s, seventeen B777-9s, four B787-9s, and twenty B787-10s.

Etihad Airways said it would also lease four additional A320neo family aircraft from Avolon. It currently operates four A321-200Ns, two A321-200NX, and six A321-200NX(LR)s.
