flydubai (FZ, Dubai International) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to order 150 A321-200Ns, opting to diversify a fleet thus far exclusively comprising Boeing aircraft.

"This strategic addition diversifies our narrowbody fleet and strengthens our long-term expansion plans. This will enable flydubai to play a key role in the success of Dubai World Central’s expansion plans, an airport we aim to become the largest airport in the world. The A321neo will support the next phase of our network development and enable us to meet rising demand across our markets," chairman and chief executive officer Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said.

The carrier did not disclose the expected delivery dates.

flydubai currently operates twenty-six B737-800s, sixty-seven B737-8s, and three B737-9s. It has firm orders from Boeing for another 108 B737-8s, eight -9s, and thirty widebody B787-9s.
