Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) may have to continue blocking the majority of business class seats on its new B787-9s longer than currently planned, as the crucial FAA seat certification drags on. The US regulator is planning its next inspection in February. Lufthansa currently hopes the restriction will be lifted by April 2026. Should the certification take even longer, the airline will face revenue losses during the busy summer season. Lufthansa currently operates eight B787-9s with the new Allegris cabin, which have only four out of 28 business class seats available for customers.
