The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to order the final forfeiture of three aircraft connected to oil businessman Sayyu Dantata over an alleged NGN2.3 billion naira (USD1.7 million) in outstanding customs duties. The motion seeks the final seizure of a 2014-built G550 registered in the United States as N169SD (msn 5455), a King Air 350i Beech (twin turboprop) currently registered in Nigeria as 5N-FMS (msn FL-750) and formerly N404SA, and a 2018-built Robinson R66 helicopter, N69D (msn 911).

The NCS alleges the aircraft entered Nigeria without the required approval or payment of customs duties, with the respondents, namely Dantata, Bestaf Services, and Metro Capital, allegedly avoiding the levies by failing to declare their actual purpose and status upon entry. The case has been adjourned to October 22 for a continuation of hearing. This motion comes amid an NCS effort, launched in 2024, to recover unpaid import duties on foreign-registered aircraft operating in Nigeria. The campaign led to the grounding of 60 aircraft in 2025 and resulted in other recent cases.
