Lufthansa Group chairman Johannes Teyssen has warned that "significantly greater efforts" may be needed to improve the group's performance, identifying the core Lufthansa brand as lagging behind other group carriers in productivity and profitability. He said the group had lost ground to rivals partly because of self-inflicted weaknesses, and that issues hindering a return to industry leadership "must be changed". The group revised its 2026 outlook in August amid higher fuel prices and cabin crew strikes.
