State-owned investment agency Danantara Indonesia is considering establishing its own aircraft leasing company. The proposal follows an Indonesian government commitment to acquire 50 new Boeing jets for the national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta), as part of a USD13.5 billion bilateral trade agreement signed between Indonesia and the United States in February 2026. Danantara Indonesia is currently evaluating the delivery timelines for the Boeing aircraft and exploring the most viable commercial leasing models. The investment agency will collaborate with the Indonesian Ministry of Investment to execute the transaction.
