ITA Airways (AZ, Rome Fiumicino) estimates damages of EUR150 million euros (USD174 million) over the next five years, or around EUR82,000 (USD95,100) per day, due to the ongoing impact of Pratt & Whitney engine recalls on its fleet. ITA currently has about 28% of its fleet (22 aircraft) on the ground due to the PW1000 engine issue. The airline operates a fleet of 101 aircraft, of which fifty-two are powered by the PW1000. It is pondering whether to sue the engine maker for damages.
