The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended the limited rate of arrivals and departures at New York Newark until October 24, 2026. However, the regulator increased the hourly flight limit from 68 to 72 operations, after “constructive comments between the airport operator and airlines.”
The move comes as the authorities continue addressing staffing and equipment shortages at the airport. The airport is also refurbishing runway 4L/22R, which is closed for the weekends until the end of the year.
