Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) has announced that it will use its fifth freedom authorisation to launch seasonal flights from São Paulo Guarulhos and Porto Alegre International in Brazil to Punta del Este in Uruguay.
It marks the first time since 2012 that it has exercised such rights, when it operated the route the Buenos Aires-Auckland International-Sydney Kingsford Smith route.
The flights will run from late December 2025 until the end of January 2026, complementing increased frequencies from Buenos Aires and Córdoba International to both Montevideo Carrasco and Punta del Este.
The route São Paulo-Punta del Este will begin on December 25 with two weekly frequencies on Thursdays and Fridays for the first leg and returns on Sundays and Mondays. Porto Alegre-Punta del Este will debut one day later with the same frequencies on the same days. Both routes will be valid until January 31.
