Read more about us below:

ch-aviation is a company that provides accurate data and news on the commercial airline industry. Our News team has members based in Cyprus, Austria, Lithuania, Greece, Australia, Serbia, Croatia, Mexico, and South Africa.

We are currently looking for a full-time English-speaking news aggregator/fleet transaction writer to help grow our frontline team.

Job Description

This is a full-time position with two main responsibilities. As a news aggregator, you will both monitor and evolve our various international newsfeeds - both active and static. You will therefore have an eye for developments in the commercial civil aviation niche as well as a strong interest in global events/current affairs and aviation. A thorough understanding of international geography and geopolitics is a must.

The other part of your job will require you to research and write what we call fleet transaction articles (FTAs). Part of the task will require you to reach out to operators/regulators/brokers across the globe to verify aircraft orders and acquisitions & disposals among others, and to present the information in a pre-set manner. Mother-tongue level English is therefore critical to the role.

These two roles form the cornerstone of our main aviation journalist role. As such, there is the possibility of career growth.

The job itself is ideally suited to an inquiring/curious personality but with an ability to integrate into a tight-knit team. Aside from a disciplined, analytically oriented mindset, you must also be able to work within established guidelines, within set timeframes, and under a supervising editor.

Given the nature of our work, you must have knowledge of commercial aviation to the extent of being an avgeek.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Monitor newsfeeds that span 24 hours in various languages and scripts
  • Update said newsfeeds using correct terminology and wordings
  • Monitor various static information sources
  • Research and write FTAs in English
  • Independently research and review aviation-related articles which may or may not be in English;
  • Do additional research to corroborate/clarify reports;
  • Extract from said articles, information relevant to the ch-aviation market context;
  • Build relationships with key industry players across the world;
  • Work to set deadlines;
  • Work with a supervising editor to ensure set standards and quality are maintained.

You might be a great fit if you have:

  • A mother-tongue/C2 standard of English language, both oral and written;
  • A demonstrated passion for current affairs and civil aviation
  • Ability to work with Boolean operators;
  • Verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, critical thinking;
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with an editor, problem-solve, self-organize, manage own work schedule and time, meet hard and soft deadlines;
  • Ability to keep data and information confidential;
  • Strong general computer skills as well as Google search skills;
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook);
  • Previous experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment is a plus
  • Language skills in Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Farsi, Japanese, Mandarin or Cantonese and experience with language translation tools or knowledge/experience in the airline industry are a big plus.

What is in it for you:

  • A real opportunity to grow fast and kickstart your professional career as a journalist in the world of aviation;
  • Internal training and courses that start with your onboarding process
  • Contribution to the 3rd pillar after 4 years of working with us
  • After a while, a fully paid workcation – you could work from an interesting location for a week, fully covered by the company! Next location – Thailand 🏝️
  • A work-life balance - we support your professional, family, and personal goals, by having:
    • Flexible working hours and hybrid work-from-home policy
    • Vacation days that increase with your age and years of service
    • Option to work 4-days a week (36 hours for 90% of the pay)
  • Fruits and coffee
  • Fitpass card

Application process:

If you think you would be a perfect match for our company and the advertised position, submit your motivation letter and Curriculum Vitae in English.

Please note that only Applications in the English language will be considered. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. All applications will be considered under the terms and conditions of confidentiality in accordance with the regulations of personal data protection.
