Toki Air (BV, Niigata) has secured provisional relief in its repayment of a JPY290 million yen (USD1.8 million) loan due on October 30, 2026, after Japan's Niigata prefectural government indicated it would defer the instalment for a second consecutive year. The regional carrier received JPY1.2 billion (USD7.5 million) in prefectural loans in 2022 but continues to face financial difficulties. The prefecture said that demanding repayment could jeopardise the airline's continued operations, citing rising fuel costs, the weak yen, and ongoing financing challenges. A revised repayment schedule has yet to be finalised.
