RwandAir (WB, Kigali) plans to take delivery of four more A330-200s before year-end following the arrival of an A330-200 in August 2026, as it prepares to expand its long-haul network into Europe and the Far East, AeroTime and Aviation Week reported.

CCO Reuben Mbonye said new destinations would be announced later, with the fleet expansion supporting the carrier's plans to double its fleet within five years. RwandAir is also targeting growth in cargo, including potential European markets.

Mbonye said rising fuel costs had forced the airline to revise fares, while calling for greater implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) to reduce taxes and improve intra-African connectivity.

According to RwandAir social media posts, the A330-200 that arrived in Kigali on August 24, 2026, is 9XR-WS (msn 1049). ch-aviation data shows the aircraft was built in 2009 and delivered new to Oman Air.

The planned delivery of four more A330-200s will grow RwandAir's widebody fleet to seven of the type by the end of 2026, plus one A330-300. Its narrowbody fleet comprises of six B737-800s and one B737-800(SF) freighter. The active regional fleet includes one DHC-8-Q400, while another Q400 is parked, as are two CRJ900ERs since October 2025 and July 2025, as the airline phases out its CRJ900s as part of its fleet renewal strategy.
