JSX (United States of America) (XE, Dallas Love Field) has inked a deposit-backed purchase agreement with Heart Aerospace for fifty ES-36s with an option of another fifty, as the Swedish hybrid-electric aircraft manufacturer unveiled the 36-seat hybrid-electric regional airliner.

According to the manufacturer, the ES-36 is an evolution from the previously announced Heart ES-30, for which JSX Air had signed a letter of intent (LOI) for fifty, plus fifty as an option, in 2023. This agreement converts the 2023 LOI with Heart into a deposit-backed purchase commitment and secures early delivery positions for JSX.

Compared with the ES-30, the as-yet-uncertified ES-36 adds six passenger seats and 1,415 pounds (642 kilogrammes) of payload capacity, while retaining the same maximum takeoff weight and battery capacity, Heart said. The manufacturer is currently building its first pre-production ES-36 aircraft at its plant in Los Angeles, targeting first flight for the second half of 2028, and entry into service in 2031, following Part 25 certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration.

ch-aviation fleets data shows JSX operates four ATR42-600s, fifteen E135s, and forty E145s. In 2023, it also signed an LOI for the AURA AERO hybrid-electric 19-seater ERA regional aircraft.
