Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) reportedly has withdrawn from Ghana's process to select a strategic partner for its planned new national airline after opting not to participate in the government's formal expression of interest. The move narrows the field of prospective partners, previously reported to include Ethiopian Airlines, EgyptAir, and Boeing. Ghana aims to launch the carrier in 2027 as part of President John Mahama's plan to restore a national carrier after past failures. Asked for comment, a Delta Air Lines spokesperson said: "Delta Air Lines is not currently pursuing participation as a strategic partner or investor in the proposed Ghana national carrier project. Ghana remains an important market for Delta, and we remain committed to supporting the continued growth and development of the country’s aviation sector."
