Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) is not planning any further acquisitions in the near term and remains focused on obtaining the regulatory approvals for the takeover of Smartwings Group, chief executive Güliz Öztürk said during a panel discussion at the IATA AGM in Rio de Janeiro. "We won't be looking at more acquisitions, not now. First we have to be successful with Smartwings," she said, and highlighted that acquisitions are difficult and require, among other things, a "cultural fit" between airlines. The Turkish carrier hopes to obtain the European Commission's green light for the acquisition of the Czech group, first announced in December 2025, in three to four months.
