Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) has begun a two-week trial of all-electric operations with a Beta Technologies (Burlington, VT) Alia CX300 aircraft. N214BT (msn BT31C-0002) was ferried to Glasgow International on March 18, 2026, and operated the first test flight to Dundee on March 19. The airline will evaluate the aircraft for potential mail and cargo operation across Scotland, in partnership with Royal Mail. The Scottish carrier becomes the first European airline to trial an electric aircraft on commercial routes. "We are not talking about concepts, prototypes, or distant ambition, this is a real tangible programme of flying across our network which will provide invaluable data on how an electric aircraft could perform in a real commercial environment," chief executive officer Luke Fajarallah said.
