Coventry Airport will close permanently on June 11, 2026, 90 years after its founding, with tenants requested to leave the site by May 9. The airport will be demolished to make way for the construction of a battery factory. The airport’s owner, Rigby Group, applied to the Civil Aviation Authority to remove surrounding airspace and cease runway operations in early December. Coventry’s last scheduled passenger flights took place in 2008. The airport has since hosted business jet, cargo, and general aviation operations, as well as training and ambulance services.
