Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) has requested immediate software and/or hardware updates on around 6,000 A320 and A320neo family aircraft after an analysis of a recent JetBlue Airways incident revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) subsequently issued an emergency airworthiness directive ordering the airlines to install a serviceable elevator aileron computer (ELAC B L104) before the first flight on November 30, 2025. Aircraft which do not undergo the necessary modification before this deadline will be grounded.
