SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) has announced that it will cease commercial operations effective immediately. "This difficult decision was made after carefully assessing all possible scenarios for continued operations. Unfortunately, under the current circumstances, it has been concluded that it is no longer possible for the company to continue its activity," chief executive Edvinas Demenius said. The Latvian ACMI/charter specialist, formerly owned by Avia Solutions Group, filed for court-supervised restructuring on October 28 and has not operated any commercial flights since the end of October.
