A temporary Jet A-1 fuel supply constraint at Cape Town International has affected four airlines after one supplier faced administrative issues with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), according to Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). Some airlines uplifted fuel at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo. While Lufthansa alerted passengers it may have to add refuelling stops in Johannesburg and Windhoek International, a spokesman for the airline told ch-aviation that all Lufthansa flights from Cape Town are operating nonstop to Frankfurt International and Munich. The Fuels Industry Association said the issue stems from unclear customs registration rules for independent storage operators, not a fuel shortage. It warned that regulatory gaps threaten infrastructure, investment, and supply reliability, urging urgent SARS action.
