Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA), a Russian state corporation acting as bankruptcy trustee to defunct Investbank, is demanding the recovery of EUR203.1 million euros (USD236.5 million) from airBaltic (BT, Riga) citing unpaid debts and interests. It filed the lawsuit before the Moscow Arbitration Court in November 2023, with the hearing set to take place on December 4, 2025.
This is the latest development in a 13-year legal saga, in which Investbank, and later DIA, have attempted to recoup loans issued to former airBaltic shareholder Baltijas Aviācijas Sistēmas (BAS). As previously reported, BAS took three separate loans from Investbank during 2011, totalling EUR16.5 million (USD19.2 million).
