Metrojet (Cayman Islands), an affiliate of Metrojet (Hong Kong) (MTJ, Hong Kong International), has secured an air operator's certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI). CEO Dave Yip told ch-aviation that the certification was obtained with a G650.
The move, according to Yip, was prompted by “growth in the VP-C [Caymanese] registration of aircraft in the region.” It is currently the sole AOC held by the Hong Kong-based company.
Details on the G650 inducted under the new certification remain undisclosed. Metrojet operates at least one G650, inducted in September, three G650(ER)s, and two G650ERs, one of which was added in March, all registered in the Cayman Islands. A second ultra-long-range Gulfstream Aerospace jet is expected to join Metrojet Cayman Islands' AOC within the next 12 months.
Looking ahead, Metrojet anticipates growth guided by client demand and regulatory developments. “Our focus right now is on ensuring the successful onboarding of the first two aircraft,” Yip said.
Founded in 1997, Metrojet is part of the Kadoorie family's broader group of companies. In addition to aircraft management and charter services, the company runs maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities at Hong Kong International and Angeles City Clark International.
