Thai SmartLynx Airlines (THB, Bangkok Don Mueang) received its first aircraft, an A320-200, on August 22, 2025. Now registered as HS-SXA (msn 5089), the aircraft landed at Bangkok Don Mueang, the airline's base.
Asia Pacific Leasing, a Thai SmartLynx-affiliated special purpose vehicle, owns the ex-SilkAir aircraft, which was acquired from TrueAero Asset Management Ireland in 2024. It had been stored at Denpasar since November 2024 and was delivered following maintenance.
The 13.4-year-old A320 was ferried directly from Denpasar to Don Mueang and is powered by International Aero Engines V2500 engines. It is not known if the company retained the seating configuration of its former operator.
Thai SmartLynx has not disclosed initial deployment plans for the aircraft but intends to operate ACMI and charter flights once its air operator's certificate (AOC) is approved.
SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) parent Avia Solutions Group has expanded its ACMI footprint in Southeast Asia with other subsidiaries, including already-certified BBN Airlines Indonesia and start-ups Ascend Airways Malaysia and Avion Express Philippines, alongside operations in Europe, Latin America, and Australia.
