Alfa Jet (Istanbul Airport) has inducted a first G550, the company confirmed to ch-aviation.
The 18.3-year-old jet, TC-JUN (msn 5133), is configured for up to 14 passengers and was first active on August 9 with a roundtrip between Istanbul Atatürk and Nevsehir.
It joins another Gulfstream Aerospace aircraft in Alfa Jet's fleet, a 25-year-old GIV-SP, operating alongisde a 2006-built Hawker 850XP. The company told ch-aviation that it expects to add more aircraft soon, though details remain undisclosed.
Alfa Jet is the third Turkish air operator's certificate (AOC) holder currently operating the G550, after Körfez Havacilik and Zafer Air, each with one unit. Turkish Airlines General Aviation also manages three G550s on behalf of the Government of Türkiye. No other GV-based jets are active in the country.
This aircraft was previously registered in the United States as N770AW and was operated by Journey Aviation (JNY, Boca Raton). Based at Teterboro, it remained active under the company's 'JNY' code until May 3. Between May 11 and 13, it ferried from Belmar/Farmingdale to Istanbul Atatürk, with a stop at Mykonos.
As of July, Journey Aviation's Part 135-certified fleet primarily comprised Gulfstream jets, including a G200 added earlier this year, a GIV, six GIV-SPs, four GVs, and two G550s. The company also operates a Falcon 2000, a Praetor 600, and a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter.
