India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered the country's Boeing operators to inspect the locking mechanism on fuel control switches on their B737s and B787s. The directive, which comes a few days after India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau released its preliminary report into the June 12, 2025 crash of an Air India B787-8 at Ahmedabad, applies to B737-700, B737-800, and B737-900ER aircraft, along with all Indian-registered B787s. Citing a 2018 FAA Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) noting the potential for the locks to disengage on certain variants, the watchdog has given the carriers - which include Air India, IndiGo Airlines, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, and Air India Express - until July 21 to submit their findings.
